Last night my best mate and I went to see Coldplay Live 2012; the film follows the band on their Mylo Xyloto world tour. Only one word can describe the movie; incredible. I had a smile on my face and goosebumps all over my body throughout the film. Coldplay Live 2012 was directed by Paul Dugdale, the genius behind Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Last night Coldplay Live 2012 was screened in over 50 countries for one night only. If you missed out don’t worry, the DVD will be out on November 19th along with the Live CD and the band will also release Mylo Xyloto Live, an interactive companion to the concert film which allows you to go behind the scenes of the film and play with interactive features. The film shows performances from the band at Paris’ Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Cente and their critically acclaimed performance at Glastonbury.
This is Coldplay’s first live album and film in nine years and they definitely delivered. The Mylo Xyloto world tour has been seen by over 3 million people since it began in June 2011 and the band are currently in Australia; but unfortunately they aren’t coming to Perth. Coldplay are one of the world’s best bands and have the numbers to back them up with over 55 million records sold worldwide, 7 Brit Awards, 7 Grammys, 5 VMA’s, 23 million fans on Facebook and 8.5 million Twitter followers. I was unable to go to the concert but this movie completely made up for it. With the stunning filming, incredible music and intimate interviews this has to be one of my favourite concert films. I would recommend anyone to see it even if you aren’t that into Coldplay you will be after you see this movie!
