Superfood Energy Bowl

imageMy breakfast of the moment is called the Superfood Energy Bowl. It takes just 1 minute to prepare and is loaded with vitality boosting super foods that nourishes your body from the inside out. What I love about it is that it makes the perfect portable breakfast or snack so you can easily prepare it into a glass mason jar and take it to work to enjoy at your leisure. I use a good thick Greek Style natural yoghurt as my base, and for those who are dairy free you can use coconut yoghurt or a silky cashew cream. To this base I add a spoonful of my antioxidant rich Organic Superfood which is packed with 10 organic veggies and lush berry fruits that helps to nourish my body before I start my busy day. I top it simply with fresh seasonal fruits of the moment and add a scattering of nuts or seeds for crunch and extra protein.
What’s good about it:
Pomegranates are loaded with antioxidants + polyphenols to protect against disease and inflammation and promote optimum health and vitality. Yoghurt is packed with good bacteria that can help protect your immune system as well as support digestion. Yoghurt is also rich in quality protein to support repair and recovery. Healthy Chef Superfood adds a boost of fruit and vegetables that is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds to support optimum health. It also works as a pre-biotic in the gut for healthy digestion and nutrient absorption. Almonds are a delicious source of protein and essential minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium necessary for nerve transmission and the contraction of all muscles including the heart. I always boost with a spoonful of extra protein such as my Pure Native WPI which keeps me a little more satisfied for the rest of the morning. Protein can also support hormone production such as GH, testosterone and thyroid that can be suppressed by ageing, stress and poor diet. Hormones such as testosterone help boost lean muscle and bone mass as well as reducing fat mass. It also assists with insulin function and glucose metabolism.
