Best Wine in the West!

WA brought multiple awards home from this year’s Perth Royal Wine Show, showing up the eastern states. Margaret River’s Watershed Winery won Best Wine of the Show, Best West Australian Wine and 4 other titles. Swan Valley’s Houghton Winery continued their winning streak from last year by winning the Most Successful West Australian Exhibitor and claimed a trophy for Best Dry Table Wine, three gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.
With 2,235 entries from across Australia, WA did the State proud. Chris Hatcher, Chief Judge said that the overall quality of WA wine is exceptionally strong. “Margaret River is a benchmark area for Cabernet Sauvignon and I would expect WA to do exceptionally well in Cabernet classes at any Show in Australia. Also, Chardonnay and Shiraz from WA is as good as anywhere in Australia so in general terms WA should do very well in all the Shows around Australia, not just in WA.”
