Mundella Foods won multiple awards at this year’s Royal Agricultural Society of WA Dairy Awards, including the main prize of Champion Dairy Product for their Greek Honey Yoghurt.
Awards that Mundella Foods won included; Category Winner for Fat Free Natural Yoghurt, Champion Yoghurt for Greek Honey Yoghurt and Gold Medal and Category Winners for their Blueberry Blitz, Natural and Reduced Fat Vanilla Yoghurts.
Chief Judge for the Dairy Awards Russel Smith said, “I don’t think yoghurt gets any better than this. Mundella Foods certainly produces one of the better yoghurts in Australia.”
Mundella Foods is a family owned business based in Mundijong and have won multiple awards for their premium dairy products in the past decade at local and national events.
They were the only WA recipient at the 2012 Australian Grand Dairy Awards with their Premium Natural Yoghurt.
Chief Executive Officer of Mundella Foods David Day said, “This is the first time that we have been awarded the Champion Dairy Product. For our Greek Honey Yoghurt to be triumphant over a very competitive field of cheeses, ice creams, milks and other yoghurts is a fantastic achievement.”
Mundella Foods was established in 1974 by dairy farmers, Peter and Anne Hector who created a small soft cheese factory after they found they had a surplus of milk.
They then upgraded and extended their business to include yoghurts, drinking yoghurts and gourmet cheeses which are available throughout WA.
Another triumph for Mundella Foods is that their premium yoghurt has been a part of the in-flight menu on Qantas domestic flights since 2011 so all Aussies can enjoy their products.
