With the Schedule of Entries & Show Information Booklet now available at local libraries and schools, the pressure is on for the community to get their hands dirty, start their minds ticking and spark their creativeness from within to prepare for exhibition at the 2015 Make Smoking History Canning Show – Friday 6 November and Saturday 7 November 2015.
The Schedule holds sections awaiting on entries and is putting a call out for Fruits & Vegetables, Flowers, Home & Dairy Produce, Home Cooking, Sewing & Knitting, Handicrafts, Hobby Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, Photography, Industrial Arts, and Performance Art.
For those that are not aware of the operation of an agricultural Show, it is simple. If you can fry a pancake, you’re in the Show. If you can paint a picture, you’re in the Show. If you can write a poem, you’re in the Show. If you can sing a tune, you’re in the Show. If you have a smart-phone and can take a picture with it, you’re in the Show! Times gone by have seen members of the community disconnect with their local agricultural Society, or not realise that they could participate at all. And in celebrating 120 years of the Canning Show, the time is now for members of the South-Eastern Metropolitan area to rekindle their spirit and take part in this festivity, helping CAHRS to celebrate one significantly proud milestone.
Known for the fireworks, sideshow alley, showbags, markets and roving entertainment, local Shows are striving to bring the public back to original pastimes by rejoicing in a year’s hard work, and putting their efforts on show for the community to admire, commend and aspire to.
