Bakehouses scoop the pool at Bread & Pastry Awards!

Screen Shot 2017-08-02 at 10.45.54 AMMiami Bakehouse has walked away from the recent Perth Royal Bread & Pastry Awards with some serious street cred. Scooping the pool to take out the coveted ‘Most Successful Exhibitor in Pastry Cooking’ Award!
Judged this week, Miami Bakehouse along with 600 other entries, pitted themselves against some of the best WA has to offer in 55 classes of bread and pastry. The Mandurah-based business also took out The Most Creative Pie award as well as placing in 17 other classes.
Bakers Delight Swan View nabbed the Most Successful Bread Exhibitor as well as the Tony Noonan Memorial Champion Loaf Exhibited in Show, with a whopping 19 places in assorted bread classes. Special mention should go to Cocochino for taking out dual top honors for their award in Most Creative Pastry Cooking Exhibit and Champion Specialty Bread, with placings in 11 classes.
Donut socialite; MOP Donuts was awarded the first ever Gold placing for Donuts. This year saw Donuts entered into the awards as a new class, drawing high entries and a tough decision for judges. Top Dup Donuts owner, David Bignall bought home a Silver to his Willagee based business. Mr. Bignall is ‘a kid from the bush’, growing up in Kojonup and entering the Perth Royal Bread & Pastry Awards to cement his place in Perth’s growing donut scene.
The Perth Royal Bread & Pastry Awards are part of the Perth Royal Food Awards, which are highlighted at the Perth Royal Show in Taste WA. The Food Awards attract the very best professionals Judges and Stewards, with RASWA providing Champion, Trophy, Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners Food Award artwork to use on product packaging, website, signage and other marketing materials to promote their success. Judging is conducted using the 100-point scoring system.
John Noonan, Chief Judge of the bread category has completed his last judging this year, after 30 years of consistent volunteer work to promote the bread and pastry industries.  Mr. Noonan’s extensive family history and background include his late father, Tony Noonan, a pioneer in baking who set up the original Perth Royal Baking Show.
