Following on from the Royal Melbourne Wine Show Trophy for the 3drops 2011 Riesling, publisher Scott Arnold-Eyers was excited to go to the launch of the 2012 vintage here in Perth. 3drops Riesling has experienced regular show success with the 2010 3drops Riesling being awarded the Riesling Trophy at the Sheraton Wine Awards 2010, as well as Gold medals at three National Australian Wine Shows. The 3drops 2009 Riesling also won a Trophy at the Sheraton Wine Awards in 2009.
3drops winemaker Rob Diletti describes the 2012 Riesling as “having intense citrus and lime characters, along with lifted floral and orange blossom notes .…. limes and lemons dominate the front palate, giving a juicy richness. The palate is delicate and very fine, with balanced natural acidity providing wonderful structure and balance. The wine is fresh and lively with a mouthwatering length which goes on and on. This wine will age beautifully for 15 years, yet has enough freshness and fruit generosity to be a great accompaniment to seafood or as an aperitif as a young wine”
The general consensus was that it’s a very pleasant drop that could be sipped on all day.
