WITH autumn now with us, there’s another change in the wind at The York Mill.

From March, the café is now being operated by The York Mill directly, providing the same level of service, attention to detail and quality of product found in the venue’s art gallery.
Managing director John Langton said the café had always been seen as a primary attraction for the venue and was part of The York Mill Management Company’s plans from the outset.
Over the past 18 months, the company has breathed new life into the old flour mill site, making painstaking repairs to the historic building to establish The York Mill as a popular tourist hub.
Mr Langton has a long association with the hospitality industry and brings a wealth of knowledge specific to leading food and beverage operations throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific islands.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on the pans and producing interesting, comfortable and desirable food choices for our guests,” he said.
“The general atmosphere and level of service offered will complement what this beautiful historic building deserves.
“We are confident, based on the immediate feedback received, the café will be a huge success and popular with all people who visit.”
The York Mill Café is working closing with Pert’s Pantry who will be supplying their award-winning breads, cakes, chutneys and conserves.
“Working with John on this project has been a pleasure and also challenges us to continue our philosophy of producing fine country fare using local produce,” owner John Pert said.
“The close association provides additional opportunities for our retail store which opened at The York Mill last year.”
The York Mill Café is open 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday for lunch and morning and afternoon teas and 9am to 4pm weekends for breakfast as well.
Current menus are available at www.theyorkmill.com.au/cafe and reservations can be made on 9641 2900.
The York Mill is at 10 Henrietta Street, York, and also offers conference, event, function and wedding venue facilities.
