The nominations for the 2017 Western Australian of the Year Awards are now open, with everyone in our community being asked to put forward someone they believe to be worthy of this prestigious honour.

The simple online nomination process at should only take 5 – 10 minutes to complete and requires the category your nominee best represents, a brief summary of why they are deserving of the Award, and an outline of their contribution to the community.

The seven Award categories include Aboriginal, Arts & Culture, Business, Community, Professions, Sport and Youth. Previous Award winners can be viewed at Adrian Fini OAM was named 2016 Western Australian of the Year for his contributions to many aspects of our community, including business and the arts.

Each of the category winners will be announced on the evening of Friday 2nd June 2017 when the WA Day weekend will officially kick off, with the overall winner of all seven categories to be declared as Western Australian of the Year.

Celebrate WA is looking for individuals from all walks of life to be nominated for the Awards and nominees do not need to be high profile, as it is contributions to all levels of our community that matter the most. Celebrate WA Chair Michael Anghie hopes that 2017 will uncover more of the talented, and often unsung heroes that make WA such a wonderful place to live.

“To ensure we continue to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to our state, I ask all Western Australians to consider who inspires and motivates those around them, and lodge a nomination today,” said Mr Anghie.

Anyone can make a nomination for the Western Australian of the Year Awards between the 20th of November 2016 and 31st of January 2017.
