The Stage Is Set – Let The Show Begin!

Located on the famous Mandurah Boardwalk overlooking Mandjar Bay, The Stage Door Bar & Brasserie is a picturesque setting for a meal, a coffee or a 5 o’clock drink with the corporate crowd.
Chef Glen Sutton has devised a menu for summer with old favourites and new delights with gluten free and vegetarian options available and flexible tailoring of the menu for other dietary needs.
If you’re looking for an entrée or a few nibbles to share over a glass of wine why not order The Stage Door’s tasting plate?
The Four Flavours Plate is a tasting plate with both hot and cold options to tantalise your taste buds. The spread changes daily but if what we had is anything to go by then you’re in for a treat.
Crisp chilli and sweet ginger prawns, flavour-packed chicken and pork terrine with bush tomato chutney, lightly battered pepper squid with mustard aioli and mixed olives. Hint – if you get the squid with your selection be sure to have it with the mustard aioli – amazing.
A main dish soon to appear on the entrée menu is the Confit of Duck Salad.
A leg of crispy skinned duck cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection with baby spinach, fresh bean shoots, capsicum, spring onion, drizzled with an orange and star anise vinaigrette. A bright and colourful dish fit for summer dining that tastes even better than it looks. Mixed amongst the zesty salad are more small pieces of the duck waiting to catch you by pleasant surprise.
Now, according to owners Pat and Vanessa Jennings the Chicken Curry is one of the most popular dishes on the menu and after tasting this best seller it is easy to see why.
A generous serving of moist chicken breast pieces and crisp Tiger prawns cooked in a light coconut curry and served with fresh mixed vegetables and Hokkien noodles is made even more delectable with a sprinkling of crispy noodles freshly made in the Stage Door kitchen.
This is a beautiful summer take on a traditional curry with a wonderful mix of textures from the crisp vegetables, and noodle garnish to the moist tender chicken and soft noodles.
But if you’re not a fan of curry don’t despair there are just as scrumptious mains on the menu for you to try.
For lamb lovers the Lamb Roulade served on creamy butter mashed potato, wilted spinach, Mediterranean Caponata, and rosemary will not disappoint. The portion of succulent braised lamb, the eggplant and tomato in the Caponata and the creamy mash combine to transform this dish into a rustic delight.
Our wine of the day was the Wild Rock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008. This New Zealand white is a stunning drinking wine and perfect match to the fresh flavours of each dish with its fruity and citrus tones.
It worked surprisingly well with the lamb, balancing the heartiness of the dish with its light fragrant quality. The citrus notes were really brought out by the spice in the chicken curry, and balanced the rich flavour of the duck to perfection.
So, whether you’re a Mandurah local or just down for the day, the Stage Door will have something for everyone – sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
