Mundijong based dairy producers Mundella Foods were multiple award recipients at the recent Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of WA Dairy Awards, winning no fewer than 22 medals (seven gold and 15 silver – refer to bottom of release for list), in addition to champion product in five categories.
An experienced team of judges led by Russell Smith, Chief Judge, presided over the RAS WA Dairy Awards, where Mundella Foods were awarded the champion dairy product for their Greek Honey Yoghurt in 2012.
Russell is the Chief Dairy and Cheese Judge at the Perth, Brisbane and Sydney Royal Shows as well as judging dairy awards in New Zealand, the USA and the UK.
Mundella Foods, a family owned business, has been winning awards and accolades for their premium dairy products in the past decade at local and national awards.
They have been awarded Australian Grand Dairy Champion at the national grand dairy awards five times in the past six years. Their most recent win was at the prestigious Sydney Royal Easter Show, with their Greek Natural Yoghurt taking out the champion product gong for cultured milk product or yoghurt.
Chief Executive Officer of Mundella Foods David Day said that ‘the RAS WA Dairy Awards attracts products nationwide, and Mundella Foods are very proud to have been recognized in so many categories’.
We are looking forward to the Australian Grand Dairy Awards (AGDA) in Melbourne in November 2013, to see how Mundella Foods compares to the rest of industry leaders’.
Mundella Foods was established in 1974 by dairy farmers, Peter and Anne Hector who found they had a surplus of milk and hence created a small soft cheese factory to supply local shops.
Mundella Foods then upgraded and extended their operations to include yoghurts, drinking yoghurts and gourmet cheeses, which are now available throughout WA, ranging from large supermarkets chains to specialty boutique retailers, as well as a recent push into Asia.
