On September 13 the Perth Town Hall will open its doors for the city’s first ‘Italian Food and Wine Festival.’
This one-day event aims to promote the flavours of Italy through education and interaction, while building a new generation of Italian food and wine lovers.
Festival goers will get the chance to meet winemakers and importers and learn about Italian grape varieties. The Tasting Hall will feature over 200 wines from the East, West, Centre and South of Italy. Wine classes and workshops will also be running, with well known wine journalists and sommeliers there to guide you through Italy’s fine grape varieties.
Some of Perth’s best Italian chefs will be running cooking demonstrations, giving you an insight into the elegance and simplicity of Italian food.Chefs include Joel Valvassori (Lalla Rookh), Maurizio Di Ciano (Maurizio Restaurant), Josh Catalano (Catalano’s seafood), Egidio Squillace (Event Style) plus Danny Russo (the Old Library – Sydney).
The Food Market will give you a chance to sample and purchase a range of Italian breads, small goods and locally grown fruit and vegetables.
The Italian Wine & Food Festival aims to increase market share for Italian wine and food in Australia, resulting in improved sales for importers, winemakers, retailers, and restaurants.
At the end of the day, grab your Spritz, head to the Aperol Garden and toast your newfound Italian wine and food knowledge.
Tickets are now on sale.
