Five-Star Performance

Five-Star restaurants often conjure image of bow ties, untouchable museum-like furnishing, and silent reserved appreciation for meticulously created food- all business, all boring, all encompassing. How wrong can people be?

Friends Restaurant has been having dinner concert nights for well over a decade now. Winning awards for Best Restaurant with Entertainment in Australia on a number of occasions for its coupling of fine food with some of the worlds best live performers and we have been lucky enough to go to a heap of them. They are great value with quality food and an up close and personal way to see and hear your favourite artists.
To date we have seen The Black Sorrows, Normie Rowe, Mental As Anything and Jon Stevens from Noiseworks to name a few.
The standard price is $135 for a 3 course meal and a live act.
The night starts off with a few drinks at the bar before your are seated. Don’t forget that the earlier you book, the closer you will be to the stage. Once seated, your waiter will offer you the drinks list before the entree comes out followed by the main course and then the dessert.

Once all the food is served, the entertainment begins while wait staff continue to top up your glasses when necessary.
At the end of the night, complimentary coffee and tea is served and after the concert, you can have a final drink at the bar and try your luck at meeting the entertainers.
It is no surprise that Friends’ cellar has been judged as Australia’s best on more than one occasion. Owner and operator Clyde Bevan’s knowledge of fine wines is second to none and on more that one occasion has educated me from his vast experiences on the subject.
So many restaurants are weak impersonations of each other; Friends is not. The restaurant’s name is particularly appropriate, with owners  Clyde and Lesley Bevan and their team treating their diners with anything but the detached hovering of many fine dining establishments. No wonder so many of the artist that preform at Friends keep coming back.
