Foodbank WA invites you to see how they fight hunger

Facebook graphic FBWATo celebrate the official opening of the new Centre for Hunger Relief, Foodbank WA is inviting people to a behind the scenes tour of its operations on Friday 1 May 2015 from 1.30pm to 4.00pm, to see how they operate to help fight hunger and feed people in WA in times of need.
On Friday, 1 May 2015 Premier Colin Barnett will officially open the doors of Foodbank WA’s new Centre for Hunger Relief, built to deliver more food to more people in need. The new building, located at Perth Airport, is four times the size of the charity’s former premises at Welshpool and is one of the largest Foodbank warehouse’s to be constructed in Australia. Tours taking in the new warehouse distribution centre, training kitchen and social kitchen will commence at 1.30pm and run every 15 mins with the final tour kicking off at 4.00pm. Highlights will include a giant can constructed for the day by Fluor and a visit by West Coast Eagles Captain Shannon Hurn at around 1.30pm.The tour will also showcase Foodbank WA’s School Breakfast Program and healthy eating and education programs. You can book your spot on a tour here or by calling (08) 9258 9277.
Bring a house warming gift: entry to the tours is free, but Foodbank are asking all visitors to please bring a can or two (if you can) to help fill up their new shelves and help WA families and people in need.
Foodbank WA is located at 23 Abbott Road (off Grogan Road), Perth Airport and supports over 450 emergency relief and welfare agencies and over 430 schools. They help feed around 51,000 people and families every month, around 16,000 are children.
