More than 160 avid food and wine lovers were treated to award winning wines from the 2014 Singapore Airlines Swan Valley Wine Show paired with culinary masterpieces designed by Masterchef Australia host and restaurateur, George Calombaris, and the Swan Valley’s own chef and Humane Food Ambassador, Kiren Mainwaring.
Following the success of the debut event, Entwined in the Valley looks to have a permanent position on the annual food and wine calendar.

International wine writer and sommelier for the evening, Ch’ng Poh Tiong, was extremely complimentary of the Swan Valley wines as he lead guests through the extensive wine list. “The (Swan Valley) fortifieds are wines the world should not do without,” he said. “These are not just world-class wines, these are wines that are just unimaginable.”
Olive Farm Wines released the Swan Valley’s first commercial vintage in 1834. The Yurisich family proved they are still producing wine of outstanding quality, winning Gold in the Fortified Sweet Red Liqueur Styles category at this year’s show with the vineyard’s 1965 Solero Liqueur Shiraz. Olive Farm Wines owner and fourth generation winemaker, Anthony Yurisich, was delighted to receive this honour. “This is possibly the best wine I have had a chance to blend with dad, and we are very proud of it,” he said. We are thrilled to have our award winning wine showcased at Entwined in the Valley as part of the 180 years celebrations.”
City of Swan Mayor, Charlie Zannino, said Entwined in the Valley was a great opportunity to pair fine local wines with outstanding food. “We are extremely proud to be Western Australia’s oldest winemaking region, the second oldest in Australia, and it is great to see the quality of our wines recognised by international talent,” he said. “Entwined in the Valley was a great platform to showcase not only our award winning wines but also celebrate the Swan Valley as Australia’s first Humane Food region.”
