Cider and ale blaze a trail in Swan Valley

The City of Swan is shaking things up with the launch of its new Swan Valley Cider and Ale Trail.
While wine is aplenty in the oldest wine producing region in WA, sometimes the palate calls for something more, like a thirst-quencing, chilled beer or cider, and in step with the trendy craft beer movement, the Swan Valley has something to suit every taste.
The impressive trail line-up features nine local breweries and ciders including  Elmar in the Valley, Duckstein Brewery, Funk Cider, Oakover Estate, Mash Brewery, Ironbark Brewery, Feral Brewing Company, Figtree Estate and the Homestead Brewery – to give trail blazers a taste of just what the Swan Valley has to offer.
City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the new trail would bring yet another exciting tourism experience to the region, highlighting the growing number of talented brewers settling alongside the third and fourth generation owned wineries in the region.
“This just adds to the already burgeoning mix of wineries, fresh produce and eateries and helps to make the Swan Valley an even more desirable location for local, interstate and international visitors.”
Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward Councillor Darryl Trease said the Cider and Ale Trail was a great example of collaboration between local businesses and the City.
“This is a unique opportunity for the breweries and cideries to not only promote their own products, but the region and each other.”
To celebrate the launch of the Cider and Ale Trail, the City is also giving one lucky person the chance to win a year’s worth of Swan Valley cider and beer. The competition will run from April 4 – 30 on the Cider and Ale Trail website – www.swanvalleyciderandale.com.au.
