Char Char Bull was also one of only two Fremantle restaurants to be acknowledged at the awards, joining South Fremantle’s Copper Chimney which won the licensed Indian category.

Managing director Brenden Jones attributes the win to the team of professional staff serving quality produce in the laidback surrounds of the harbour. “We have some of the best food to be found in Fremantle and select tender, flavoursome steaks from our suppliers to deliver premium char grilled prime beef,” he said. “But part of the success is also knowing our location and the fact it’s renowned for seafood, which is why we also have fresh local fish, oysters and mussels on the menu, treated with the care it deserves. It’s all about delivering the best of the land and sea, while also having wonderful ocean views.”

Taking over the business 2½ years ago from the original owners, Jones was keen to build on the restaurant’s reputation and accolades while ensuring there was some evolution in moving forward. “We believed in the business and continued to invest into growing the existing concept, which is something that doesn’t always happen when a restaurant changes ownership,” he said. “Char Char Bull is lucky to have great managers and an excellent team, who all buy into our singular mission – to deliver consistently high quality food and service for all of our guests. Various customers and suppliers twisted our arm to enter the Gold Plate Awards this year so to actually win the category is wonderful recognition for all the work done by our team.”
Earlier this year, Char Char Bull was voted as having WA’s best steak for the third time in the I Love Food Awards, run by Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD Channel. In the past few months, the business has also been granted a new liquor license that allows for cocktail functions to be held at the venue overlooking the water of Fishing Boat Harbour.

Char Char Bull Restaurant is located at 44b Mews Road, Fremantle, and open seven days for lunch and dinner. More details at www.charcharbull.com.au.
