The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) has welcomed the WA Government’s announcement of a user-friendly and uncomplicated contact tracing system, urging hospitality venues to adopt the Government owned and operated QR code contact tracing system, SafeWA.
AHA(WA) CEO Bradley Woods said the AHA had been in discussions with the State Government in recent weeks to ensure that if contact tracing was to be required, it was done so in a way that did not impose an unreasonable burden on hospitality venues and customers.
“The SafeWA QR Code system is a very simple, easy to register app that is far less complicated than those adopted in other States and Territories, where there are dozens of different companies collecting customer data and requiring patrons to register multiple times.”
“WA finds itself in a very fortunate position when it comes to our virtual eradication of COVID-19, however we must remain prepared so that in the event of a new case in our community, we do not send our state into a widespread lockdown.”
