WA Signature Dish is a cooking competition that promotes Western Australia’s beautiful and abundant local produce. This year (2017), WA’s best known cooking competition is back but with a twist, as four of WA’s leading media, lifestyle and sporting personalities will each work with a partner chef to compete in a 60 minute cook-off using one or more ‘hero ingredients’ from the Kimberley, Southern Forests, Swan Valley and Peel Regions as part of the WA Day long weekend festivities on the main stage at Elizabeth Quay on Sunday 4 June.
Each celebrity contestant will represent one of the State’s four major food producing regions (Kimberley, Peel, Southern Forests and Swan Valley), and will prepare and cook a dish that represents the flavours of our State on a plate using the best of WA produce. The four celebrities are Peter Curulli (mix94.5 ‘Lisa & Pete’), Justin Langer (Former Australian cricketer), Mark Gibson (Channel 7) and Rayne Embley.
Buy West Eat Best have teamed up with some of WA’s most respected chefs and industry figures to promote WA food. Dan Masters (Rockpool Perth) has joined as Head Judge alongside fellow judges Rob Broadfield (The West Australian food critic) and Anna Gare. This year’s Partner Chefs include Peter Manifis (Passion meets Purveyor), Caroline Taylor (Taylors in the Valley), Kenny McHardy (Manuka Woodfire Kitchen) and Ollie Gould (Shorehouse). The cook off event will be hosted by Scott Taylor (Beaufort Local, The Trustee Bar & Bistro).
Over 40,000 are expected to attend the WA Day Festival at Elizabeth Quay and the cook off will commence at 1.30pm on Sunday 4 June.
