Australia and New Zealand were the chosen countries for The Malaysian Tourism Minister Hon. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz to start the visit Malaysia 2014 launch. Thursday June 20 The Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth CBD was turned into a spectacle of colour and Malaysian culture.
Visit Malaysia Year 2014, is an intensive campaign to promote Malaysia to Australians as well as other countries around the world. This campaign is set to drive a target of 28 Million tourists from around the world as well as 620,000 Australians to the country which will be an increase of 25 per cent from the 2012 figures.
The Malaysian Tourism Minister, Hon. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz said, “Australia is a key market for Malaysia, with visitor arrivals from Australia to Malaysia, growing year-on-year. In statistics received so far this year short term visitors from Australia to Malaysia are up 6% compared to the same period in 2012,”
“During my time here I will be engaging with travel wholesalers, retailers, airlines and the ( Meeting Incentives and Conferences) MICE industry to find new ways for us to work together to promote Malaysia to Australians in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2014.”
Australia is the eighth top producing market for Malaysia; as over half a million Australians traveled to Malaysia in 2012.
