The wine that has taken winemaker James Talijancich 25 years to produce, received official recognition at the IWSC Annual Awards Banquet held at the Guildhall in London on Wednesday evening, November 12th 2014, officially making it one of the worlds great fortified wines.
Their eldest son, Julian Talijancich (fourth generation), who currently resides in London, accepted the award at the Awards Banquet on the wineries behalf.
Made from fruit from their 82-year-old Swan Valley Vineyard, the base wine goes back to 1980, having an average age of 20 years.
The unique fortified was described by the international judges as “…Gloriously succulent and very serious, the texture is almost oily but certainly mouth coating and intense. Can’t really get better than this”.
The IWSC is the only competition that conducts full blind tasting (pre poured glasses) by panels selected form over 300 fully qualified industry judges, and is followed by an extensive chemical analysis. Each product is assessed by region/area, variety/style/type, and vintage/age.
