The recent budget allocation has created an annual $20 million increase to the State’s tourism and events budget, making it the most significant investment in WA’s tourism industry history. Currently there is a lack of tourism funding in WA, but the Australian Hotels Association of WA hopes that the latest allocation will see an improvement in our tourism figures.
Of the allocated budget, $5 million will be allocated to major events, with the remaining $10 million being injected into regional events and festivals. In improving both major and regional events, the aim is to draw more tourists from interstate and overseas to both city and regional areas.
A total of $60 million will be injected into the industry over the next four years, with the hope of benefiting not only the tourism industry, but the associated sectors such as hospitality.
