Mandoon wins trophy for Cabernet Sauvignon

The second Halliday Australian Cabernet Challenge was judged in conjunction with the Langton’s Margaret River Wine Show earlier this month.
 
Patron of Margaret River Wine Association, James Halliday AM, announced the regional results and full results which are now available to view at www.australiancabernetchallenge.com.au.
 
The number of wine regions represented increased from 28 to 31 with 9 regions providing a regional winner, an increase from only 6 last year.
 
The Challenge provides an opportunity for Australian producers of Cabernet Sauvignon to participate in a varietal competition of great national and international interest.
 
Cabernet Sauvignon of all vintages are eligible and judged by region in a blind tasting without judges knowing which region they were officiating.
 
Wines achieving a Gold score of 95 points and over were selected to determine the best of region wine, then each regional winners was judged again for the Trophy.
