An exciting opportunity for the North-West community, with Kimberley Aboriginal Corporation, Emama Nguda Aboriginal Corporation (ENAC), set to become the first organisation in Australia to commercialise the breeding of the northern Australian giant freshwater prawn, known as cherabin (Macrobrachium Spinipes). It is expected that the project, to be set just out of Derby, will provide multiple opportunities for the local community and also preserve the iconic species, which has been part of Aboriginal people’s culture for thousands of years.
