Christmas is almost upon us. For many it’s a time for celebrating, giving gifts and enjoying some time off for festivities and feasts. Sadly that’s not the case for everyone.This has been a tough year for many families in Western Australia and Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those struggling to make ends meet.
You can help feed a family in need this Christmas. This is Bill’s story:
Bill’s wife left him and his two daughters who are 8 and 12 a few years ago. Bill is on a disability pension and struggles financially to keep a roof over their heads, pay bills and provide for his children. Bill relies on Foodbank to feed himself and his daughters and they also grow their own vegetables and have chickens in their backyard. At Christmas time Bill receives a Foodbank festive hamper and their welfare agency gives his girls toys, which allows them to enjoy Christmas just like other families.
Unfortunately Bill’s story is all too common.
Last year, Foodbank provided over 1 million meals to hungry West Australian’s throughout the festive season. Often the need for food far outweighs their supply, so they need your help:
- A donation of $25 provides 50 meals
- A donation of $50 provides 100 meals
- A donation of $100 provides 200 meals
Please give generously, to ensure that no one has to go without food this Christmas.
