Crab Fest has a long history of offering a unique experiences for all ages and tastes, and the local seafood and produce showcased during the event has inspired a collaborative cookbook called The Fish Trap.
The Fish Trap includes a wide selection of delicious recipes from local and celebrity chefs including Anna Gare, 2016 Masterchef runner-up Matt Sinclair, UK’s Rick Stein, Stephanie Alexander, Flic’s Kitchen, Redmanna Waterfront Restaurant, Warung Ade Indonesian Restaurant and more. There’s also a step-by-step guide on how to prepare Blue Manna Crabs for cooking. The book features iconic artwork from local artist Emma Blyth and beautiful illustrative photography to really tempt the tastebuds.
Mayor Marina Vergone said the Crab Fest weekend and The Fish Trap cookbook was a celebration of local talent, produce and flavours, in particular the popular Blue Manna crabs. “Crab Fest is a fantastic opportunity to sample great local seafood and regional produce, and the new cookbook will help keep the food focus alive long after Mandurah’s biggest weekend,” Mayor Vergone said.
The Fish Trap cookbook will be available to purchase at a custom-made booth at the festival for $20 with part proceeds donated to the local Foodbank. Following the Crab Fest, The Fish Trap will be for sale at a number of local businesses featured in the book.
