Dine for Diabetes 2Hot on the heels of being revealed as a finalist in 3 Gold Plate Award categories, Scarborough eatery Drift Kitchen has announced it will host Diabetes Research WA’s inaugural Dine for Diabetes fundraiser.
The Sunday August 12 event runs from 12.30pm to 3pm and features a specially designed menu by head chef Jay Teserero.
The long table style luncheon features a grazing board, slow cooked cajun BBQ pork riblets, lamb backstrap as well as an array of seasonal vegetables including red wine braised cabbage, baby carrots, zucchini, sweet potato chips, and green pea hummus. Additional vegetarian options will be available on the day.
Diners will also get to indulge in new Australian made all-natural icecream from Denada Co. The dessert is sugar and gluten free, low carb and low dairy.
Tickets to Dine for Diabetes @ Drift Kitchen are $70 and proceeds will support local medical research into all forms of diabetes. A wine and beer pairing, from local breweries and wineries, will be available on the day for an additional $30.
Drift owner Ryan Croll said the idea was inspired by his wife Anna’s 14 years of living with type 1 diabetes and their desire to help be part of the quest for a cure.
Drift Kitchen is up for best metropolitan licensed casual dining restaurant, best breakfast and best new venue in the Gold Plate Awards, which are announced in October.
Diabetes Research WA has supported local research projects into diabetes since 1978, injecting over $5m into the cause over that time.
