Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA), the peak national organisation representing the interests of Australia’s 35,000 restaurateurs, caterers and café operators, has launched Cellar Reserve to match restaurants with wineries that have small amount of stock specific for on premise distribution. The Cellar Reserve website at www.cellarreserve.com.au is the first online marketplace of its kind, which aims to make it simple and cost effective for restaurants across the country to showcase Australian wine.
R&CA CEO John Hart says the website supports local wineries and the overall positioning of food, wine and tourism. “It’s about providing Australian restaurants with the tools to showcase Australian wine – especially to the inbound traveller”.  “This will help streamline the process between the cellar door to sophisticated wine lists – when a restaurant is searching for a particular wine and only requires a small quantity they can purchase direct from the winery,” said Mr Hart.
Western Australian venues that excel in the provision of wine service and list development have the chance to be recognised in the WA Wine List Awards on Tuesday 26 May at Matilda Bay. R&CA recently partnered with Wines of WA to deliver the WA Wine List Awards, as part of the 2015 Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence program.
The focus for the WA Wine List Awards is also around showcasing local wines and supporting the local WA wine and food industries through wine list development. R&CA CEO John Hart says the inaugural event is about enhancing the tourism experience by combining the local food and wine together to showcase the local dining experience.
“The WA Wine List Awards is a great way to work with restaurant operators and encourage them to have WA wines on their wine lists,” said Mr Hart. The awards are judged on a comprehensive list of criteria.  Nominations close on 10 April and must be made via the R&CA website at www.restaurantcater.asn.au
