The Chair of WAFIC, Dr Ron Edwards, thanks John for his contribution, leadership and expertise and wishes him success for his future endeavours.

“John Harrison has served the WA commercial fishing industry and broader community tirelessly and with great purpose over the last five and a half years of his tenure.”

“Commercial fishing always faces many challenges ranging from access rights to environmental changes, and John has addressed those professionally during that time. He also secured a funding package with the State Government to provide for WAFIC’s ongoing work.”

“On behalf of the WAFIC Board and staff, we wish John well as he chooses to pursue other interests in his career,” he said.

Given the current political climate in the Western Australian seafood and fishing industry the Board has appointed Alex Ogg as the interim CEO, effective immediately.
