The Camfield’s Magnificent Seven
Located next to the Optus Stadium, The Camfield stretches out in all directions while making the most of its riverside location.
“You can come here seven times and experience seven different spots around the venue,” says Executive Chef Ben Keal. From the sunny area facing the pedestrian Matagarup Bridge  over the Swan River, to the Beer Garden for watching sporting events on the large custom-built screen, to the function centre, The Camfield offers lots of different areas – each with their own ambience.
DSC_1832Over a pint of their Bevy Prize Lager, Ben also points out that The Camfield is not just there for the Stadium crowds.
“We have mothers’ groups, cyclists, walkers, joggers and tourists who come to experience this new area of the Swan River. There are playgrounds for different age kids and walk/cycle trails along the river.
“The ferry comes to the new jetty and people will also be able to park and walk across from the city via the new bridge. It’s a great place to bring the family or visitors for a stroll, a drink or a meal by the river. And the big screen has all the major games.”
This new precinct is rapidly becoming a Perth must-go-to destination; and The Camfield offers a seasonal and varied menu.
We started with the Chilli Mozzarella Arancini in tomato sauce with shaved ricotta and fried basil. The crispy coated arancini balls were offset by the piquant tomato sauce and colourful garnishes. This dish went very well with the Bevy Prize Ale brewed right here on the premises.
Another starter was the Chargrilled Pork Belly Bites with crackle pieces and black sesame. Served with a delicious fresh coleslaw and Nam Jim, this was our favourite dish.
We moved on to one of the best Pepperoni Pizzas I have ever tasted. The venue has two state-of- the-art ovens overseen by a dedicated pizza chef.
Around 80% of all produce is locally sourced.  Chris Bottega is the Head Chef here and he’s very proud of this local component of The Camfield’s menu. Local ingredients include Amelia Park lamb and beef, Cambray cheese from Nannup, porterhouse from the Stirling Ranges and local Italian smallgoods.
BurgerHFor the next dishes we sampled the Angus Beef Burger, which came piled high with smoked bacon, American cheese, mustard, pickles, mayo, tomato and cos lettuce, plus a generous serve of fries. We particularly liked the mayo, and the beef burger had a hint of pink.
We finished with the house American-Style Pork Ribs from the chargrill, paired with the Prize Ale. We thought the fresh coleslaw with grated apple was a most welcome addition here as it offset the sweetness of the BBQ sauce and gave this great hearty winter dish a lift.
“The Camfield engaged kitchen contractor KBR Commercial and Moffat to supply and install Convotherm ovens, Waldorf cooking equipment and Waldorf WASHTECH  warewashing – all renownedfor their durability and performance,” says Brian Garcia of Moffat about the state-of-the-art kitchen.
The microbrewery onsite has two beers on offer with seasonal brews arriving at different times during the year. Australian wines, including many drops from South Australia and Australia’s South West, as well as several cocktails are also available.
Game and concert goers already know this is THE place to meet for a pre or post bevy. It’s also an ideal place to bring visitors, meet up with friends and family, and appreciate just how fast our lovely city is changing.
Open 11am – late 7 days a week, The Camfield caters for walk-in guests, and small to large group bookings can be made (on Stadium event days). Dogs are also welcome.
