Western Australia is fast becoming known as a world culinary destination and, according to the Hon Alyssa Hayden, Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Tourism, Swan Valley producers such as Morish Nuts, are making this happen.
Almost 80 guests,  including politicians, industry leaders,  Virgin Airline  representative, business owners and personalities, turned up for the unveiling of Morish Nuts new purpose-built shop and factory, strategically situated along the mecca tourist strip of the Swan Valley, on Monday, November 25.
According to Ms Hayden, Morish Nuts decision to move from their former premises in East Perth was their best move yet.
“There are 2.1 million day trippers who visit the Swan Valley each year and the region attracts $284 million in visitor expenditure,” pointed out Ms Hayden.
“The Swan Valley offers a variety of produce and showcases the best of our region. Morish Nuts is the perfect addition to the Swan Valley and will complement a great range of products and attractions in the region for visitors to enjoy.”
The launch, which gave guests the opportunity to view a visual feast as to how these nutty delights are produced was a way, according to founder and owner Archie Moroni, of showcasing the company which turns over $3 million annually, necessary expansion.
“The Swan Valley is a perfect location for Morish Nuts as it fulfills all our business expectations will add to the West Australian tourism dollars and enable the business to provide employment opportunities.”
A far cry from the days as a university student who, together with partner and co-founder, Marie Mapp, would roast batches of nuts over a camping stove in their rented townhouse to pay for his studies.
Marie would pack the products into a cellophane bag and tie with ribbon before the couple sold their wares at markets, universities and country fairs.
These days Morish Nuts with the catch phrase “Just One More…!” can found be at expos, royal shows, boutique stores and independent supermarkets in Perth.
Morish Nuts piece de resistance is the conquering of two of Australia’s major airline players – Virgin Australia of which Morish Nuts has been providing delectable products for more than a decade and, more recently adding Jetstar to their high altitude clients!
In other words – the sky is the limit for Morish Nuts.
