The LiveLighter Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival achieved the “Outstanding Community Event Award” for the second year running at the prestigious Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, held on Friday night 13 June at the Esplanade Hotel by Rydges, in front of some 450 guests.
This year’s event surpassed last year’s record-breaking attendance and continues to clearly rank as one of WA’s premier cultural events and is arguably one of the most popular events of its kind in the world.
The event commenced its humble beginnings at Araluen Botanic Park, Roleystone in 2003 as an initiative to insure against weather impacts on the peak springtime tulip festival.  It became so popular that it outgrew its spiritual home in 2009.  It has settled happily at its current location… the Esplanade Reserve, Fremantle ever since and has taken on an identity all of its own.
