This event is to celebrate World Fair Trade Day and Fair Trade Fortnight, Fair Trade Freo are hosting a Fair Trade industry party.
Fair Trade Fremantle are a group of diverse community members and entrepreneurs united to inspire the people of Fremantle to embrace and create a fair deal for third world producers. We increase the awareness and availability of fair trade by hosting dynamic events and promoting the availability of fair trade products to consumers and businesses in Fremantle and have the ongoing support from the City of Fremantle Council.
Supporting Fair Trade means supporting the world’s poorest producers in employment by fair trade principles, allowing them to have enough money to pay for health services, nutritious food, clean water and sanitation and have access to education for their children.
For over six years, WA advocacy groups such as The WA Fair Trade Collective, Oxfam and Fair Trade Freo have volunteered their time, money and energy into promoting the awareness and availability of fair trade to consumers. Individuals and business have worked tirelessly to create events, raise money, spread the message and contribute to the global fair trade movement.
The intention of each individual is to create a better deal for third world producers, which helps tackle global problems from poverty, slavery social justice and environmental damage.
Fair Trade Freo thought it was about time such community advocates were recognised for their efforts! So this year, instead of fundraising or awareness raising, they are hosting a party to celebrate volunteers in fair trade, to bring together all people with an intention of creating a fairer world and publicly acknowledge their contribution to the greater good.

Sponsored by the City of Fremantle (WA’s first fair trade city), the event will take place in the historic Victoria Hall.
Local band The Black Penny Project, Dj’s Spinafex, MC and performer Ross Vegas, Accordion Player Nico Bahamonde will be headlining the evening to keep the dance floor moving.
Local Organic fair Trade catering company, The Hidden Pantry will be providing a fair trade meal included in the ticket price, and will also host a chocolate cake auction
There will be the annual fair trade coffee sack race, and plenty of other quirky games to keep you occupied, and a chance to win a fabulous door prize showcasing the wares of local fair trade businesses.
The event is open to the public 18+ only and will have a licensed bar, selling local beer, wine and fair trade cocktails.
