Western Australia is in a very unique position in regards to beer and brewing – after the closure of the Swan Brewery; we are now the only state in Australia without a mainstream
beer. Our isolation to the rest of the world combined with a sociable climate has created a melting pot of small breweries.
Founded by John McWilliams and Garry Heady, Brew TV is a new, exciting, educational and informative series for both seasoned craft drinkers and newcomers to the industry. Commencing 1st August, Brew TV will be providing viewers with an in-depth insight into all things brewing and beer related in Western Australia.
The Brew TV Brew Crew consists of John as the Brew-Master, the ‘Brew-fessor’ also known as Mark Rivers a university professor who is in the process of building his own brewery in Pinjarra, and Garry along with Luke Heady and Marlon Ramirez have appointed themselves as the Tasting Team, arguably the most important job. With the Brew Crew always expanding, stay tuned for interesting and entertaining stories as the show progresses.
“Each week we will explore the beer and brewing scene in WA, from commercial breweries right down to the home brewer. There will be educational features with “how to” guides for the novice and experienced brewers,” said John McWilliams, Producer and host of Brew TV.
Brew TV aims to delve into all levels of brewing including the most important part – the tasting of the product. With a beer and brewery of the week awarded in each episode and features on the South West, Swan Valley, and regional WA Brew TV will be the go to guide.
“The idea for Brew TV was created before shooting another project, that Garry and 1 are a part of – Beyond Gardens Live. It was Garry’s son Luke, who showed real enthusiasm about the concept and that sealed the deal,” added John.
John has a strong affiliation with brewing in WA, a landscaper by trade so naturally a cold beer after work is in his blood. However after being introduced to home brewing in 1999 he caught the brewing bug and has been passionate about it ever since.
Garry’s experience with beer stems back to the golden years of home brewing where he would help his Dad measure out sugar with a Sherbet spoon in a stinking hot shed.
Brew TV will commence on 1st August on WTV at 9pm with an encore on Saturday 3rd August at 10pm. For any more information please visit their website.
