The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has welcomed the announcement today that Western Australian company BGC has been selected as the preferred proponent for the hotel development at the FESA headquarters site in the Perth central business district.
“The State Government has selected local WA building company BGC as the preferred proponent for hotel/ mixed use development for the FESA headquarters site on the corner of Hay, Irwin and Murray Street in the Perth,” said AHA (WA) CEO Mr Bradley Woods.
“BGC and the State Government will now enter into an exclusive three month working period to commence design and contract negotiations which should deliver high quality hotel accommodation for Perth.
“The AHA envisages that the hotel will feature a substantial number of guest rooms along with the most modern facilities which business travellers and tourists now expect in a CBD hotel.
“The support of State Government together with changes to the planning laws and plot ratio requirements currently before the City of Perth, make this is a prime site well suited to a premium hotel.
“The property on the corner of Hay, Irwin and Murray Street Perth, the current FESA Headquarters, is a 7,350sqm site in close proximity to a number of the city’s corporate headquarters, entertainment precincts and leisure amenities.”
