  • $1 Million to attract Chinese tourists during Chinese New Year via local organisations
  • $19 Million for new Perth Stadium Events Marketing
  • $10 Million extra funding for Perth Convention Bureau to sell Major Conferences for Perth

Mr Woods said that “The new funding for tourism marketing and promotion has come at the perfect time with the WA economy transitioning from mining to the service sector and over 2000 new hotel rooms being built in Perth by 2018. This new funding will help rebuild the WA Tourism economy through leisure, events and the conference and exhibition market. The $19 Million for Perth Stadium Events marketing will see many tens of thousands of visitors travelling to Perth to experience Australia’s newest and best sports stadium. The $10 Million extra funding for the Perth Convention Bureau to sell Major Conferences will deliver over $100 Million in economic benefit to Perth and WA.
“The WA Government’s innovative approach in working with the Chinese community to encourage Chinese Nationals to celebrate New Year’s in Perth is an exciting concept that will see tens of millions of dollars spent in WA. The AHA (WA) looks forward to working with the Office of Multicultural Interests on strategies to encourage Chinese visitation and spending in our State’s restaurants, hotels and hospitality businesses” said Mr Woods.
