Tourists, especially from important Asian markets, have been asking for better access to Perth and Western Australian and this announcement delivers on that. Western Australia is a key market that airlines should travel to and take advantage of our increasing number of international and interstate travellers.
AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, condemned the decision to withdraw the route in February last year noting Western Australia’s disappointment at being abandoned. “The decision last year left WA with no major full service airline bearing the Australian flag from Singapore to Perth, he said. “The year ending September 2014 saw a 29.8% increase in Singaporean visitors to Western Australia with 78,800 visitors. Singapore is WA’s 2nd largest International market by visitor spend and arrivals and is set to grow. This is good news for tourists, business and local consumers,” Mr Woods concluded.
