Sip unique and award-winning wines, beers and ciders in the Bendigo Bank Tasting Shed; learn the tricks of the trade from local food growers, and meander through market stalls as you listen to live entertainment throughout the day.
Shire President Cr Gordon Houston said “A Taste of Chittering is the Shire’s signature event of the year and showcases all the region has to offer”.
“We are fortunate to have the Slow Food Movement chefs on-board this year presenting local culinary delicacies and samples for everyone to try using local Chittering produce; a region that forms part of Perth’s greater food bowl,” Cr Houston said.
The event will also feature Bindoon IGA Picnic Village, with six luxurious Nordic cabanas available for hungry patrons to graciously sit amongst to enjoy their delicious fresh food in a picturesque, country atmosphere.
Slow Food chef Vincenzo Velletri will bring friends to create interesting, unique delicacies using local produce from producers and bush foods in the area. Curious tasters can sample these offerings in the Northern Valleys News Producer Lane, where local producers will talk about their ingredients and chefs will walk through their creations.
This year, A Taste of Chittering will be used to launch an exciting new Food and Wine Trail in the region, produced with assistance from Tourism WA. The “Chittering Farm Flavour Trail” brochure features a string of local Chittering farms and wineries that curious visitors to the area can use to find hidden farms and see where some of Perth’s most delicious food is grown. Many of the farms involved will be showing at A Taste of Chittering where you can meet the producers and taste their produce first hand.
There will be market stalls from locals, with farm and native animals for the children of all ages to enjoy, presented by local carers from Emerald Acres and Chittering Wildlife Carers..
