THE WICKEPIN HOTEL & HARVEST CAFÉ HAS WA’S
BEST REGIONAL STEAK SANDWICH
 
imageThe Australian Hotels Association (WA) has announced the Wickepin Hotel & Harvest Café in Wickepin as the winner of the AHA’s Best Regional Steak Sandwich for 2015.
Head Chef, Jody Dunn attributed her success to the use of local produce, earthy ingredients and organic flavours as well as going against the grain by using a prime lamb sirloin steak.
As usual the judges were looking for a steak sandwich that displayed superior ‘fangability’, a term used to describe the ease of which one’s teeth can sink into a juicy, succulent and flavoursome steak sandwich.
Mr Woods, congratulated the Wickepin Hotel and Harvest Café saying “the public response to the competition has again been overwhelming; Western Australians are certainly passionate about their steak sandwiches and enjoy being involved in a democratic voting process.
“The steak sandwich brings together everything that is great about WA venues and pubs, from the home-style cooking to the locally-grown produce.”
The five regional finalists faced each other at a ‘cook off’ to determine which steak sandwich was the best at the AHA Hospitality Expo on Tuesday 19 May 2015 at Crown Perth. WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Regional Competition is sponsored by Tourism Western Australia and beverage company Lion.
