WA Brewers Raise a Glass at the 2025 Perth Royal Beer Awards

Western Australia has once again proven it knows how to pour a winner, with brewers from across the regions frothing over top honours at the 2025 Perth Royal Beer Awards.

A bounty of accolades was presented at the awards ceremony on Friday 6 June, celebrating the best in Australian brewing: 70 Gold, 164 Silver and 155 Bronze medals, alongside 16 Trophies and 5 Champion Trophies.

This year’s competition drew 447 entries across eight categories – from pilsners and stouts to sours and IPAs – submitted by 45 exhibitors and evaluated by a panel of 47 independent judges.

The awards were opened by John Snowball, RASWA President, and the Hon. Dan Caddy MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney General; Minister for Commerce; Tertiary and International Education; Multicultural Interests, who, on behalf of the Hon. Jackie Jarvis MLC, Minister for Agriculture and Food; Fisheries; Forestry; Small Business; and Mid West, spoke to the significance of WA’s thriving beer industry.

Nova 93.7’s Ross Wallman served as MC, keeping the crowd entertained with his trademark charisma.

Margaret River Beer Co stole the spotlight, clinching the coveted Champion Beer trophy for their In The Pines IPA, as well as Best IPA Draught and five Gold Medals. Head Brewer Ryan Allen marked the moment in style by drinking straight from the trophy.

King Road Brewing Co (Oldbury) enjoyed a standout night, winning Champion Small Brewery, Best Pale Ale Draught for their Short Stay APA, and Best IPA Packaged for their King Road IPA, along with six Gold medals.

White Lakes Brewing (Baldivis) earned the title of Champion Medium Brewery, also taking home Best Lager Packaged for their 100 Day Pilsener, Best Low Alcohol Beer Draught for their Dingo Mid, and five Gold medals.

The well-known Gage Roads Brewing Co (Palmyra) earned trophies for Champion Large Brewery, Best Low Alcohol Beer Packaged for their Side Track All Day XPA, and four Gold medals.

Bannister Brewing Co (Canning Vale) was crowned Best New Exhibitor and received a Gold Medal for their Ghost Dog Lager, proving this is a rising star worth watching.

  • Homestead Brewery (Caversham): Best European Style Beer Packagedfor their Flanders Red Ale, and Best European Style Beer Draught for their Le Donk.
  • Otherside Brewing Co (Myaree): Best Pale Ale Packaged for their Anthem.
  • Boundary Island Brewing (Erskine): Best Lager Draft for their Rauchbier.
  • Boston Beer Co (Denmark): Best Amber – Dark Ale Packaged for their The Right Nut Brown Ale.
  • Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co (Vasse): Best Amber – Dark Ale Draught for their Conan Irish Red.
  • Campus Brewing (Canning Vale): Best Porter/Stout Packaged for theirKnucklepuck Imperial Stout.
  • Froth (Dalyellup): Best Porter/Stout Draught for their Gimme’ Mo.
  • Lucky Bay Brewing (Esperance): Best Hybrid & Specialty Beer Packagedfor their Mountaineer.
  • Beerfarm (Metricup): Best Hybrid & Specialty Beer Draught for their Starward Barrel Aged Imperial Milk Stout.

Each beer was blind judged against five key criteria – appearance, aroma, flavour, style and technical quality – with medals earned through strict benchmarks of excellence.

This year marks the end of Jayne Lewis’s three-year tenure as Chief Judge, during which she championed greater gender diversity and broadened the judging panel with a rich mix of industry expertise. The Royal Agricultural Society thanks Jayne for her outstanding contribution and lasting impact on the Perth Royal Beer Awards.
