On Sunday 14 December, Araluen Botanic Park will be staging its popular annual Bendigo Bank Community “Carols by Torchlight” Christmas event.
“With the magical feel of Araluen’s amphitheatre setting, little wonder this stands as arguably one of the premier Carols events in Perth. It again promises to be a very special family night with a line up of quality talent and plenty of opportunities for community singing,” says Araluen Botanic Park Foundation general manager, Rod Ross.
Guests are encouraged to come early from 5:00pm onwards and enjoy a sunset picnic or BBQ.
Carols - 131118At 7:00pm popular gardening media personality, John Colwill, will introduce the evening’s performers commencing with the Town of Victoria Park Brass, which will set the mood with a medley of Christmas music. The community singing of carols will be led by the beautiful voices of the Roleystone Community College Choir. A special guest appearance by the very talented folk/blues artist, Mike De Velta will add to the evening’s enjoyment.
Candles are not permitted due to summer fire prevention measures, however guests are encouraged to bring torchlights or alternatively purchase the highly popular and inexpensive multi-coloured LED candles at the venue to illuminate the evening and enhance Araluen’s unique ambience.
“We are delighted to acknowledge our event sponsor, Roleystone & Karragullen Community Bank Branch (Bendigo Bank). This partnership offers an outstanding level of support for this popular family event and clearly demonstrates this bank’s commitment to the local community,” adds Ross.
Admission is by gold coin donation with all proceeds going towards restoration of the gardens. Light refreshments, including sausage sizzle, fruit mince pies, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be available at the venue.
Of course, any time is a great time to visit Araluen Botanic Park. It’s open every day from 9am to 6pm. Modest entry fees apply. With spectacular running water all year round, beautifully scenic bush walks, stunning gardens, heritage structures and the Chalet Healy Log Cabin Tearooms, BBQs and picnic areas there’s plenty to do and see.
